Dr. Schwartz can use fat transfer injections to replace lost facial fullness.

Fat transfer is a big portion of my practice. I believe that lot of the changes of ageing are due to loss of fullness in the face and elsewhere in the body. It is possible to take one’s own fat, you cannot use other people’s fat, but you can use your own fat. This fat can be harvested much like we do liposuction by injecting under local anesthesia with light sedation and we numb the area, harvest the fat very atraumatically and carefully with special instruments so it is not damaged and then the fat is transferred with small 1 cc syringes in small bead-like patterns into the area to be treated and in this way as opposed to injecting fat in one big clump, it is likely to develop a blood supply. This fat then in its new area develops a blood supply and becomes permanent. We cannot guarantee permanence and we cannot guarantee the degree of permanence, but in my experience most patients have a degree of permanence. Occasionally, we will do a touch-up procedure in a year or two, but the vast majority of people require one procedure only.
