Blepharoplasty

Dr. Schwartz uses blepharoplasty to rejuvenate the eyes.

People are concerned or they should be about the natural appearance in eyelid or blepharoplasty surgery. A lot of people have a “deer in the headlights” look that can be from overdone browlift or from over resection of eyelid skin. In addition, I think it is really important, especially in men, to not use the same plan that you would use in a woman’s upper eyelid and the reason for that is that in a man if you take up possibly all of the loose skin that you can possibly take out, it feminizes the man’s eyes, or if you plan the incision so that it sweeps upward in the outer part of the eye, which is what I do for women since that is a desirable look for women, it is where they then put make up on, it feminizes a man’s eye and although it is okay to feminize the woman’s eye, most men do not want that feminized look of their upper lid. In lower lid, it is really important not to overdo the resection of fat. People can get a hollow look in the lower lids, which can make you look even more tired than you looked with the fat. So, it is important to pay attention to the details in each person’s anatomy, how the eye sits in the orbit, and the relationship of the eyeball to the orbit, to the eyelid skin, and so forth.
