Facelift and Browlift
Many people interested in having a facelift in Pasadena or the Los Angeles area as well as nationally and internationally choose the surgical expertise of Dr. Michael Schwartz. Face and neck lifting procedures reposition and tighten muscle and underlying tissues that have migrated south with aging. Dr. Schwartz uses meticulous incision planning and closure with attention to each patient's individual needs in order to restore a youthful look without the telltale signs of face and neck lifting. In many cases, a loss of fullness in the mid and lower face contributes to an aging look, and Dr. Schwartz will often combine fat transfer to the face with facelifting in order to tighten the tissues and restore fullness which is a youthful feature of the younger face.
He also takes great care with the incisions he places in front of the ear. In women, he places these behind the tragus (the small flap of cartilage that sticks out directly in front of the ear canal). In men, he places them just in front of the tragus. Dr. Schwartz has often seen cases of poor incision planning in men, in which the hair-bearing skin has been brought up onto the tragus. As a result, this area requires shaving following facelift surgery, an extremely inconvenient if not impossible task.
Dr. Schwartz is careful to not elevate the earlobe during facelift surgery and to replace the skin without tension in order to achieve the least noticeable scar possible. By keeping the earlobe in its normal anatomic position, and not over-resecting the skin, the earlobe will not take on a tethered appearance, one of the telltale signs of a poorly performed facelift. He is also extremely careful in his incision planning and closure so as to not distort the hairline behind the ear and to avoid scarring in this area as much as possible.
With a combination of meticulous attention to detail and meticulous technique, Dr. Schwartz produces excellent facelift results for his Los Angeles area patients with minimal to no telltale signs of surgery. In our Pasadena practice and across Los Angeles, browlift is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure chosen by patients who would like to elevate drooping eyebrows and smooth out horizontal lines and wrinkles on the forehead. By smoothing and refreshing the area above the eyes, a browlift can dramatically enhance the appearance of the entire face.
Dr. Schwartz performs minimally invasive endoscopic browlift surgery. Unlike conventional open browlift surgery, which requires a large incision, an endoscopic browlift is performed through small incisions placed behind the hairline. Using an endoscope (a small tube with a miniature camera on the end), and small precision instruments, Dr. Schwartz is able to elevate the forehead and eyebrow tissues and reduce the muscles that cause frown lines.
To complete the browlift procedure, a small device no larger than a dime called an ENDOTINE™ is placed to fix the tissue in the new position above the hairline. The ENDOTINE™ is a small device resembling a carpet tack which dissolves within 3-6 months.
The practice of Dr. Michael Schwartz, located in Pasadena, California, serves the entire Los Angeles area. Browlift is just one of the specialty facial cosmetic surgery procedures we offer.
